Iván Vallejo is an internationally renowned high-altitude mountaineer and one of the elite few in human history to have summited all 14 of the world’s eight-thousanders without the use of supplemental oxygen. Transitioning his unparalleled experiences from the world’s most unforgiving environments into actionable corporate strategies, Vallejo delivers profound insights on leadership, risk management, and the relentless pursuit of high-stakes goals.
Trained originally as a Chemical Engineer, Vallejo applies a highly analytical and calculated approach to extreme challenges. His mountaineering journey began on the volcanic peaks of his native Ecuador before expanding to the formidable ranges of the Andes, the Alps, and ultimately, the Himalayas. Over a gruelling 12-year odyssey, Vallejo completed his legendary “Desafío 14” (Challenge 14), capping it off with the summit of Dhaulagiri in 2008. By achieving this, he became the first Ecuadorian and only the seventh person globally to conquer all 14 peaks over 8,000 metres without artificial oxygen.
Today, Iván Vallejo leverages the powerful metaphor of the mountain to advise C-suite executives, corporate teams, and global organisations on how to navigate extreme adversity. He understands intimately that reaching the summit requires more than physical endurance; it demands meticulous planning, unwavering psychological resilience, and absolute trust amongst team members. His strategic frameworks help organisations adapt to rapidly changing environments, mitigate unforeseen risks, and foster a culture of high performance.
