Alec Ross, one of the world’s leading experts on innovation, is a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Bologna Business School. He is also the author of the New York Times bestseller ‘The Industries of the Future’. The book has been translated into 24 languages and is a bestseller on four continents.
Part of his role as a Board Partner at Amplo, a global venture capital firm, sees Alec Ross advising companies in technology, education, human capital, finance, and cybersecurity.
Alec Ross also served as a Distinguished Fellow at Johns Hopkins University and a Senior Fellow at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs.
Regarding his writing, Alec Ross’ articles have appeared in numerous publications. These include, amongst others, The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Policy, SAIS Review of International Affairs, and the NATO Review.
Alec Ross also served as Senior Advisor for Innovation to the Secretary of State during the U.S.A.’s Obama Administration. The role was specially created for him, and it saw him help modernise diplomacy while bringing innovative solutions that would advance the country’s foreign policy interests. During the 2008 Obama campaign, he served as the Convener for the Technology and Media Policy Committee. He also served on the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition Team.
As the co-founder of a technology-focused enterprise, Alec Ross saw the business start in a basement and grow into a global organisation. The enterprise initiates programs among low-income individuals on four continents.
Amongst his awards and recognitions, Alec Ross counts the U.S. Department of State Honor Award and the Oxford University Internet and Society Award. Foreign Policy Magazine named him one of the Top 200 Global Thinkers. He also received the TriBeCa Film Festival Book of the Year Award.
